There were some named Willett's (Iron Fist, Velvet Glove, Pancakes, etc) but those were private bottles. Michael notes that his bottle was purchased at the distillery (I assume that means at the gift shop) and those bottles are not named.<br />SmokyBeasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01037600157562644580noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3003812814565985230.post-6258136455540070552014-05-22T02:14:30.064-04:002014-05-22T02:14:30.064-04:00Hi. I ask because above someone mentioned Barrel 11A (which is an odd number in their system as it is) as being bitter but you mention Barrel 11 as "Superb Rye" so I'm wondering if they are indeed different. I also ask because I just picked up a bottle of Barrel 11 today and am hoping it won't be the bitter one (since I've very much enjoyed the other barrels we've had, including the Barrel 20 we finished tonight).Hi Therehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16045944947250078519noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3003812814565985230.post-35617839379305549452014-05-22T02:12:48.728-04:002014-05-22T02:12:48.728-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Hi Therehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16045944947250078519noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3003812814565985230.post-21084568911635704122014-05-18T14:03:20.135-04:002014-05-18T14:03:20.135-04:00Nice Michael. Assuming they're around suggested retail price (7yr shoud be ~$60, 9yr ~$70) then they are usually worth the $. There are definitely some big swings in the flavors and quality between barrels since this is sourced juice different barrels could be from completely different distillers, but they overall pick very quality choices. Also in general it's very important with Willett's to open the bottle, have one glass, and give the rest of it a few weeks to open up. Makes a HUGE difference, you'll be glad you did. Good drinking! /SBSmokyBeasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01037600157562644580noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3003812814565985230.post-47229605027715601452013-12-19T13:27:42.565-05:002013-12-19T13:27:42.565-05:00Any idea on how the 7yr and 9yr taste and if they ...Any idea on how the 7yr and 9yr taste and if they are worth the $.Glencairnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01640726166853876222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3003812814565985230.post-14775198970958577582013-09-26T17:13:27.320-04:002013-09-26T17:13:27.320-04:00Nice! Thing is, I was confused and thought it was one of the later-year Willett bourbons so I asked a clerk to get it for me. Well, it turned out to be a huge ordeal for a variety of reasons and 10 minutes later, he was finally able to get it down. Once he did, I realized 'oh dang, this is rye' but I felt bad that the guy's efforts would be in vain so I paid $50 for it and brought it home, thinking "Well, nothing wrong with another bottle of rye, and I do love Willett so that's fine." But then I put it on the shelf and never touched it so I'm particularly pleased to hear that it's good and it is now my plan for tonight. Cheers!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
